The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority reported that the wreckage of a cargo plane, which disappeared from radar near Karachi with its 5-person crew, has been located.
WRECKAGE OF THE PLANE FOUND
According to Dawn newspaper's report citing a statement from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, search and rescue operations were conducted for the cargo plane that disappeared from radar last evening.
After 12 hours of joint efforts by the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, the wreckage of the plane was located 53 nautical miles off the coast of Ormara, Pakistan.
As the 5-person crew on the plane has not yet been reached, search and rescue operations continue.
DISAPPEARED FROM RADAR
It was announced that the 27-year-old "Boeing 737" type cargo plane, belonging to a cargo company, disappeared from radar with its 5-person crew approximately 155 nautical miles from Karachi after taking off from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates last evening.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif instructed the relevant authorities to "accelerate search and rescue operations in the Arabian Sea" after the plane disappeared.
