In the Ulubey district of Uşak, police teams responding to a domestic violence report were fired upon with a pump-action shotgun. Two police officers were injured in the attack, while the suspect, E.R., fled the scene. Following a drone-assisted search, the attacker, hiding in an abandoned building, was persuaded and apprehended after intervention by special operations teams. One of the injured officers was discharged, while the officer in serious condition was transferred to İzmir.
Police teams responding to a domestic violence call in the Ulubey district of Uşak were attacked with gunfire. Two police officers were injured in the shotgun fire from the garden, and a large-scale operation was launched to capture the assailant.
THEY WENT TO THE CALL, WERE MET WITH GUNFIRE
The incident occurred on Kurtuluş Street in the Dilaver neighborhood. Teams dispatched to the address following a domestic violence and fight call were targeted by gunfire from the garden as they approached the house. Police officers I.S. and E.E.A. were injured in the attack.
INJURED OFFICERS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
Numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene following the report. The injured officers were taken to Uşak Training and Research Hospital after initial treatment. It was learned that one of the officers is in serious condition.
FLEEING ASSAILANT CAUGHT IN ABANDONED BUILDING
The assailant, identified as E.R. (40), fled after the incident. Extensive security measures were taken in the area, and a drone-supported search was launched to capture the suspect. The suspect was found hiding in an abandoned building in the district center.
HE OPENED FIRE ON POLICE AGAIN, SPECIAL OPERATIONS STEPPED IN
As the suspect opened fire on police again from his hideout, special operations teams were dispatched to the area. After an operation lasting approximately three hours, the assailant surrendered following persuasion calls.
GOVERNOR KARTAL: HEINOUS ATTACK
Uşak Governor Serdar Kartal, in his statement about the attack, said, "Our police colleagues responding to a domestic violence call were fired upon at close range. Due to one of our officers being in serious condition, we transferred him to Izmir. Our other colleague was discharged."
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
A judicial and administrative investigation has been initiated regarding the detained assailant.
