Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announced that they are working on new measures regarding security and education processes in schools; the details are planned to be shared in the coming days.

“OUR PRESIDENT GAVE THE NECESSARY INSTRUCTIONS”

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin stated that they are working on new regulations to reassure students and parents, in line with the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Tekin said, “Our children and parents can easily ensure that their children continue their education in schools. Our President gave the necessary instructions.”

DETAILS TO BE ANNOUNCED ON FRIDAY OR MONDAY

Minister Tekin emphasized that the ongoing work is being handled comprehensively and stated that the details of the regulations to be made will be announced to the public shortly. He indicated that the announcement is planned to be shared in a comprehensive press conference on Friday or Monday.

BOTH CURRENT PRACTICES AND NEW MEASURES WILL BE EXPLAINED

The Ministry aims to detail both the practices implemented so far and the measures to be introduced in the new period in the upcoming announcement. At the end of his statement, Tekin said, “I wish our nation a speedy recovery. Hopefully, we will not encounter such incidents again.”

NEW SECURITY RULES COME INTO EFFECT

Meanwhile, the new regulation in school security is not limited to the camera system alone. Significant changes are also being made to entry and exit rules at schools. Within the scope of the new practices;

  • Visits without appointments will be prohibited.
  • Visitors will be subject to security checks.
  • Students are banned from bringing cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and other electronic devices to school.
  • No clothing other than school uniforms will be allowed at school.
  • Unauthorized gatherings around the school will not be permitted.
  • Turnstile entry systems will be expanded.
  • Checks with handheld metal detectors will be increased.
  • Peer bullying will not be tolerated. Information and referral processes will be initiated for students who engage in psychological, physical, or verbal violence. Notifications will be made to the relevant units.

ADDITIONAL MEASURES WILL BE TAKEN IN HIGH-RISK SCHOOLS

Authorities announced that stricter security measures will be implemented in schools with a high risk level. In this context, the presence of law enforcement around schools will be increased. Practices such as police teams being present during entry and exit hours and more frequent background checks on suspicious individuals will be put into effect. These steps are expected to minimize potential security issues, especially in major cities.

ALL SCHOOLS WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE CENTRAL SYSTEM

With the new regulation, it is planned that all schools across Turkey will have a standard security infrastructure. Minister Tekin announced that all schools will be integrated into the KGYS (Central Security Management System) and will be continuously monitored. This step is expected to significantly increase the security level in educational institutions. Experts, however, point out that the complete installation of the technical infrastructure is critical for the practice to be effective. This regulation, which initiates a new era in school security, aims for a safer educational environment for students and parents.
