President Erdoğan responded to the question "Is there an interim raise for the minimum wage?" asked after leaving the Parliament with "I already said it." In a previous statement, Erdoğan had mentioned that the minimum wage would be reassessed if there was a significant increase in inflation. In today's group meeting, he stated, "We are aware of the high cost of living. We are implementing a successful economic program to find a solution to this."
During a press conference after the group meeting held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan answered the question, "Will there be an interim increase in the minimum wage?"
In response to the journalist's question, Erdoğan stated, "I already said." He did not answer the question regarding the lowest pension amount.
"WE ARE AWARE OF THE HIGH COST OF LIVING"
Erdoğan, regarding the minimum wage at his party's group meeting, said, "When we came to power, 170 liters of diesel could be purchased with the minimum wage. Today, 445 liters of diesel can be purchased. There has been a significant improvement in the purchasing power of the minimum wage compared to 2002. However, this does not mean that everything is good. We are aware of the high cost of living. As we gain ground in the fight against inflation, we will further raise the living standards of 85 million people. As a government, we know what to do in the economy. The only one who does not know what to do here is the CHP Chairman, Mr. Özel. My advice to Mr. Özel is not to tire himself too much. He should not enter into topics like foreign policy and economy, which he is inexperienced in. He should talk about uncollected garbage, burning buses, non-functioning escalators, and unpaid social security payments. He should talk about nepotism in appointments." he said.
HE HAD PREVIOUSLY DRAWN ATTENTION TO INFLATION IN HIS STATEMENT
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had previously stated regarding the demands for an interim increase in the minimum wage, "If there is a very serious deviation in the inflation rate, of course, we will not remain indifferent to this and will make the necessary evaluations."
