Caviar, an Italian jewelry company specializing in decoration of mobile phones, made a gross error with regard to Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in its new iPhone 6s collection dedicated to various countries.
The company’s new collection, named Atlante, includes iPhone 6s devices, each of which is decorated with symbols of different countries - Russia, Italy, China, UAE, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Armenia.
On the devices decorated for Armenia, Caviar, along with other symbols of that country, also depicted a monument erected in the occupied Azerbaijani territories as a “symbol” of the separatist regime of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The smartphones are designed in the same style: the back panel is made of gold and complemented with bas-reliefs depicting the sights and symbols of countries.
For example, the devices dedicated to Italy are decorated with depictions of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum and the image of a Venetian gondolier.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented the UN Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions. (Cihan/Trend az)
