During the call, addressing the possibility of a potential US and Israeli ground operation against Iran, Putin conveyed to his counterpart Trump that such a step is seen by Russia as 'unacceptable and dangerous.'
Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation on Wednesday that lasted over 90 minutes. According to a statement from the Kremlin, during the call Putin emphasized that a potential ground operation by the US and Israel against Iran would be "completely unacceptable and dangerous." It was also reported that the leaders discussed a ceasefire in Ukraine and bilateral relations.
"UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS"
According to information conveyed by Kremlin Advisor Yuri Ushakov, Putin drew red lines during his conversation with Trump regarding a possible US and Israeli ground operation plan against Iran. Putin underscored that such a step would be "completely unacceptable and dangerous," warning that the regional balance would be irreversibly disrupted. During the discussion, Putin presented proposals for resolving Iran's nuclear program and expressed support for Trump's decision to extend the Iran ceasefire.
CEASEFIRE PROPOSAL FOR UKRAINE ON MAY 9
Another key aspect of the conversation was the Ukraine crisis. Putin proposed declaring a ceasefire in Ukraine on May 9, the date Russia celebrates as Victory Day in World War II.
Kremlin sources indicated that Trump responded positively to this proposal and believed that an agreement to end the Ukraine conflict was near. Putin also conveyed his complaints to his counterpart about the Ukrainian government's alleged "use of terrorist methods."
CONDEMNED THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT
During the 1.5-hour conversation, described as very cordial and business-focused, humanitarian and diplomatic gestures were also prominent. Vladimir Putin officially condemned the assassination attempt against Donald Trump that occurred days earlier and offered his well-wishes.

US President Donald Trump stated in his remarks after the call that his Russian counterpart does not want Iran to possess nuclear weapons.
"We talked about Ukraine and Iran. It was a very good call. I think Putin wants to see a solution, which is a good thing," Trump said. He added, "I proposed a ceasefire in Ukraine to Putin, and the timeline for ending the Ukraine and Iran wars will be the same. Putin wants to be helpful on Iran. But I told him, before you help, I want to end your war first," evaluating the conversation.
