With the update of the SGK's digital system, it has been stated that claims such as unpaid premium refunds, report money, and erroneous deductions from the past can be queried and retrieved through e-Government, and citizens are advised to apply before the 5-year statute of limitations expires.
The Social Security Institution (SGK) has made updates to the system regarding the refund of certain receivables from the past as part of its digitalization efforts. It was stated that refunds could be made for certain amounts that are recorded in the institution's records and have not been paid to citizens for various reasons.
Officials expressed that many payments have been pending for a long time due to the lack of a registered bank account in the system or the absence of applications. With the update made as of March 2026, it was reported that citizens can easily check these receivables through e-Government.
IMPORTANT WARNING TO CITIZENS
While it was mentioned that there are certain payment items that can be refunded by SGK, it was stated that these payments can cover not only employees but also retirees and, in some cases, housewives. According to the information provided by the institution, among the most common types of refunds are premium refunds for individuals who have reached retirement age but have missing premium days.
In addition, personal payments such as report money, breastfeeding assistance, funeral allowance, and travel expenses, as well as erroneous deductions from salaries or excess paid general health insurance premiums, are also among the payments that can be refunded. According to the institution's data, some citizens may have amounts ranging from 500 TL to 25,000 TL in their accounts.
IT IS POSSIBLE TO CHECK THROUGH E-GOVERNMENT
Citizens can check their receivables through e-Government without going to SGK centers. To do this, they can log into the e-Government Gateway system and check whether there are payments in their names from the "Personal Payments Inquiry" section. Then, IBAN information can be added to the system from the "Bank Account Definition" section.
It was stated that after the application, payments can generally be made to the bank account or through PTT within 3 to 10 business days. On the other hand, SGK officials warned that attention should be paid to the statute of limitations regarding refund receivables. It was noted that payments that are not requested for 5 years can expire and be recorded as income for the institution.
Therefore, it was recommended that citizens who may have receivables from previous years check the system to avoid loss of rights. According to the institution's data, there is an average of approximately 4,800 TL of pending payments per person in the system.
