It was reported that the acting U.S. Ambassador to Kyiv, Julie Davis, has decided to resign and retire. The Financial Times suggested that the decision was related to differences of opinion with the Trump administration and declining support for Ukraine. The U.S. State Department confirmed the resignation but denied these claims. It was announced that Davis would remain in her position until June 2026.

A notable resignation has occurred at the U.S. Department of State. According to a report by the UK-based Financial Times, Julie Davis, the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Kyiv, has decided to resign and retire. The report suggested that differences of opinion with U.S. President Donald Trump and Washington's declining support for Ukraine were influential in Davis's decision.

U.S. STATEMENT: ALLEGATIONS DO NOT REFLECT REALITY

U.S. Department of State Spokesperson Tommy Pigott confirmed the resignation claims but denied the reports regarding the reasons. Pigott said, "The claim that Ambassador Davis resigned 'due to differences of opinion with Donald Trump' is false. Ambassador Davis has been an unwavering advocate of the Trump administration's efforts to achieve a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine."

Pigott also stated regarding Davis's tenure, "She will continue to proudly implement President Trump's policies until she officially departs Kyiv in June 2026 and retires from the U.S. Department of State."

HER PREDECESSOR ALSO LEFT OFFICE FOR THE SAME REASON

Julie Davis, who has over 30 years of diplomatic experience, began serving as the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Kyiv in May 2025 after her predecessor, Bridget Brink, resigned in protest of Trump's Ukraine policies.
