New Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre sharply denied the allegations that Chairman Özgür Özel received a total of 350 thousand dollars from Mustafa Sarıgül. Rejecting the allegations based on Emir Sarıgül's statement to the prosecutor's office by saying "It is completely false, a clear slander," Emre stated that the party bus was purchased with donations and that all invoices are available. Arguing that the allegations are a "character assassination," Emre announced that they will take legal action against those responsible.

New Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre responded to the allegation that General Chairman Özgür Özel received a total of 350 thousand dollars from Mustafa Sarıgül and to reports concerning the party bus.

“IT IS COMPLETELY FALSE, A CLEAR SLANDER”

Emre, who categorically denied the allegations and described the process as a “character assassination,” made the following statements in his remarks on social media: “The allegations against our General Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, contained in a statement leaked to the Sabah newspaper today, are completely false and a clear slander. Those who had this lie told, who told it, and who published it are part of an open character assassination. In addition, the allegations regarding our party bus that were reflected in the press yesterday are also irrational. The bus was purchased with the people’s donations, and all invoices are available in our party. Whoever is behind this dirty attempt, we will take all necessary steps to hold them accountable.”

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the investigation into the Sarıgül family’s assets, Emir Sarıgül, son of detained New Party Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül, gave an additional statement. Sarıgül told the prosecutor’s office about allegations he had not included in his first statement.

Emir Sarıgül, one of 24 suspects arrested and sent to prison as part of the investigation, according to Sabah’s report, alleged in his statement that money was given for the furnishing of the party building during the founding period of the New Party. According to Sarıgül’s allegation, while Özgür Özel and 6-7 MPs were eating at a restaurant in Ankara Ümitköy, his father Mustafa Sarıgül left 250 thousand dollars in the back of Özel’s vehicle, which was parked in front of the restaurant. Emir Sarıgül stated that he heard this information from his father.

ALLEGATION THAT 100 THOUSAND DOLLARS WAS HIDDEN IN A SHAWL PACKAGE

Emir Sarıgül claimed that the second money delivery was made at a dinner hosted at the family’s home in Ankara. Sarıgül, who said that at his father’s request he bought 2 shawls from a store in İstinye Park, alleged that his father hid 100 thousand dollars inside the gift package containing these shawls. Sarıgül said that he learned from his father the next day that the package had been given to Özel, who was invited to the dinner.

According to Sarıgül’s allegations, with these two deliveries the total amount reached 350 thousand dollars.
