An indictment has been prepared against retired Rear Admiral Türker Ertürk, who was arrested due to statements in a video shared on social media, seeking a prison sentence of 2 to 6 years on charges of 'threatening with the aim of creating fear and panic among the public through press and broadcast'.
An indictment has been prepared regarding Retired Rear Admiral Türker Ertürk, who was arrested on August 17 within the scope of an investigation initiated ex officio by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office due to the statements in the video content shared on his social media account.
A REPORT WAS PREPARED REGARDING THE STATEMENTS IN ERTÜRK'S VIDEO CONTENT
In the indictment, which stated that a report was prepared by the Public Security Bureau Office of the Istanbul Security Branch Directorate, it was reported that in the video in question, Ertürk made statements such as "Look, the government will change now, but whether with or without pain, the government will change. Therefore, everyone should pull themselves together. You, me, and of course everyone, we expect the Supreme Election Board (YSK) to make decisions according to their conscience and the law. Otherwise, we will face difficulties as a country in the future, I think. If one day we cannot topple this government through democratic initiatives, international initiatives that could also punish the Turkish people will be carried out."
The indictment included an assessment regarding the suspect Türker Ertürk that "Although the suspect stated in his defense, which contains an indirect confession, that time has passed since the videos subject to the crime, the actions related to the criminal content shared on visual media and social media, which have not been deleted and continue to be published, fall within the scope of a continuing offense."
REQUEST FOR UP TO 6 YEARS IN PRISON
In the indictment, it was requested that Türker Ertürk be sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison for the crime of 'threatening through press and broadcast media with the aim of creating fear and panic among the public.' The indictment was sent to the Bakırköy Criminal Court of First Instance for evaluation.
