RTÜK announced that a broadcast ban has been imposed regarding the armed attack in the Tarsus district of Mersin. The Supreme Board requested that broadcasting organizations meticulously comply with the court decision.
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) announced that a broadcast ban has been imposed by court order regarding the armed attack in the Tarsus district of Mersin, which resulted in the deaths of 6 people. In line with this decision taken within the scope of the comprehensive investigation carried out by the Tarsus Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, media organizations are prohibited from sharing or broadcasting on the subject.
COURT DECISION OFFICIALLY NOTIFIED
In the official statement made by RTÜK, it was stated that the ban was imposed in accordance with the decision of the Tarsus 2nd Criminal Court of Peace dated May 18, 2026, and numbered 2026/2362. It was emphasized that all broadcasters must comply with this decision, which was made for the confidentiality and integrity of the investigation.
RTÜK WARNS BROADCASTERS ABOUT 'SENSITIVITY'
In its public announcement, the Supreme Council made the following crucial reminder to visual, audio, and digital media outlets:
"Within the framework of Law No. 6112 and related legislation, it is importantly reminded that broadcasting organizations must meticulously comply with the aforementioned court decision. Announced respectfully to the public."
It was reported that heavy administrative and legal sanctions within the scope of Law No. 6112 will be applied against channels that do not comply with the decision and violate the broadcast ban.
