After giving her statement, Eker was released under judicial control.

Eker's posts on her social media account quickly generated widespread public reaction. The posts, reported to contain harsh language against Atatürk and Kemalists, received intense backlash on social media, with numerous calls for the matter to be taken to court.
INVESTIGATION IMMEDIATELY LAUNCHED
According to the statement, an investigation was launched against Rümeysa Eker by the Terme Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following a complaint filed on June 4, 2026. The Prosecutor's Office initiated a review of the posts and summoned Eker to give her statement.
STATEMENT TAKEN, REFERRED TO COURT
Within the scope of the investigation, Rümeysa Eker was called to Terme Courthouse on June 5, 2026 as a suspect and her statement was taken. Eker was referred to the Duty Magistrate's Court for Criminal Peace under the charge of "Degrading One Segment of the Public Against Another," as regulated in Article 216/2 of the Turkish Penal Code.
JUDICIAL CONTROL DECISION ISSUED
As a result of the evaluation by the magistrate, it was decided to impose judicial control measures on Eker, including a "ban on travel abroad" and an "obligation to sign." Thus, Eker was released under judicial control without any request for arrest.
