In the event of a possible early election, the claim that the government will give a 50 percent raise to retirees has started to be seriously discussed. Although no statement has been made on the matter yet, this rumor is now being openly voiced in economic circles.

While the opposition's calls for early elections continue, a noteworthy claim has started being discussed in Ankara's corridors. It has been alleged that in the event of a possible early election, the government could increase retirement pensions by 50 percent. While no official statement has been made on the matter, the claim is being voiced loudly in economic circles.

CLAIM THAT EXCITES MILLIONS

As early election debates continue on the political agenda, it has been alleged that the government may be preparing a new economic step for retirees during a possible election process. According to the claim being discussed behind the scenes, if a decision for early elections is made, an increase of up to 50 percent in retirement pensions could come to the agenda. However, no official assessment has been made by the government side regarding the issue so far.

INFLATION FORECAST RISES, RAISE CALCULATIONS CHANGE

Meanwhile, with the Central Bank raising its year-end inflation forecast from 16 percent to 26 percent, calculations regarding the July raise for retirement pensions have been reshaped. Following the new forecasts, millions of retirees have focused on the rate of increase to be made in July.

ECONOMIST'S JULY RAISE CALCULATION

Economist Prof. Hakkı Hakan Yılmaz, in his assessment based on the 26 percent year-end inflation forecast, stated that inflation could be around 3 percent in May and 1.5 percent in June.

According to this calculation, Yılmaz indicated that in July:

  • Workers and Bağ-Kur retirees could receive approximately a 19.85 percent raise
  • Civil servants and retired civil servants could receive approximately a 15.5 percent raise.

EYES TURNED TO JULY

Millions of retirees are closely following both the inflation difference to be announced in July and the possible additional raise claims being discussed behind the scenes. How the economic administration will proceed in the coming period remains a matter of curiosity.
