JUBILANT WELCOME FOR PUTIN
Putin, who is on a two-day official visit to China, was welcomed at the airport by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. According to a statement from the Kremlin, a state ceremony will be held for Putin tomorrow morning at Tiananmen Square. Following the ceremony, Putin will hold face-to-face and delegation-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and return to his country on the same day.
VISITING DAYS AFTER TRUMP
The Russian leader's visit to China comes days after US President Donald Trump's visit, drawing attention. The US President had paid an official visit to China on May 13-15.
This will be Putin's 25th visit to China during his tenure. The parties are expected to focus on economic cooperation and strategic relations during the visit.
