It emerged that DNA samples were not taken from the clothes of Rojin Kabaiş, a university student who went missing and was found dead in Van in 2024. At the lawyer's request of the family, DNA traces will be examined two years later. The father alleged that evidence was covered up and appealed to the Minister of Justice.

A scandalous negligence has emerged in the investigation of missing university student Rojin Kabaiş in Van. According to allegations,

It has come to light that DNA samples were not taken from the clothes of 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş, who went missing in Van on September 27, 2024, and whose lifeless body was found on the lake shore on October 15. DNA traces on the clothes will be examined two years later upon the lawyer's request.

FATHER KABAİŞ'S "COVER-UP" ALLEGATION

21-year-old Rojin Kabaiş, a student of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Preschool Teaching Department, went missing in 2024, and her lifeless body was found by the lake after searches. The family rejected the claim of suicide and initiated a legal struggle. Father Nizamettin Kabaiş alleged negligence and evidence tampering during the investigation, disagreeing with the view that his daughter committed suicide. While the investigation continues, the family learned that DNA samples from her clothes on that day and the diatom test to determine if the suspicious death was due to drowning or if the person was killed then thrown into the water were not conducted. The family requested these through their new lawyers. Father Kabaiş claimed that some officials in Van covered up the incident and stated that he will speak out in his upcoming meeting with the Minister of Justice.

"WE WERE SHOCKED, WHY WEREN'T THESE DONE?"

Nizamettin Kabaiş said the things that should have been done earlier were not done. Stating that DNA from his daughter's clothes will be examined, Kabaiş expressed that much will be revealed thanks to the lawyer they authorized. Pointing out that the diatom test was also not conducted on time, Kabaiş said, "We were shocked, why weren't these done. This means a cover-up. Whoever abused their duty, I am addressing the Minister of Justice. The Minister of Justice must step in for those who abused their duty. Why didn't they do this on time? Our lawyer is requesting it two years later. They are tampering with most evidence. How many white vehicles entered and left the village, the roommate's statement, camera footage" he said.

"THEY DIDN'T DO THIS ON TIME"

Kabaiş, pointing out that there was one rotating camera at the time, continued his speech as follows:

"They told us this camera is broken. We didn't pay attention. But when we were going to visit the Minister of Justice, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University sent a letter. They said the university has no broken cameras. If it's not broken, where is its footage? If it's broken, you will write a report stating that one camera is broken. Things not done for two years are being done now. Most of the camera footage in Mollakasım has been erased. If it had been done on time, this incident would have been resolved. Where did that lifeless body come from, was it left by someone or did it come from the lake? There are many villas there, cameras on the front and back sides. I see many cameras where Rojin's lifeless body was found. Whether it came from the water surface or was left by someone would be seen. They didn't want to do this on time, they didn't do it. What does this mean? It means a cover-up."

"THEY TELL ONE THING TO THE MINISTER, ANOTHER TO US"

Emphasizing that most officials in Van do not want this incident to be resolved, Kabaiş said, "They tell one thing to the Minister of Justice, another to us. We have reached the final point, I will say this. I respect their positions. But if my daughter is insulted or if it's said she committed suicide, I will respond. We will go to Ankara again. I will tell the deficiencies. I will tell everything to the Minister of Justice there. I ask the prosecutor why these weren't examined? He says the previous ones didn't examine, it's not our fault. If it wasn't done, you should complain about them too. If the state gave that position, that podium, they will give its due. We are devastated. I constantly travel to Van and Ankara, appear on TV so they don't cover up. Some officials in Van are covering up. I will say this more clearly. If necessary, I will go to the President and make a request" he said.
