After going missing in Van, the lifeless body of 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş was found on the lakeshore. Her father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, appeared on Haberler.com and stated that Sedat Peker supported them, saying, 'He sent his lawyers to our home, thank you. They said, 'We will do whatever is necessary.' He also announced a 25 million lira reward for the person who finds the killer.'
The father of 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose lifeless body was found on the lakeshore after she went missing in Van, Nizamettin Kabaiş, answered questions from Melis Yaşar and Olgun Kızıltepe on Haberler.com.
"THIS IS A MURDER, THERE ARE SERIOUS NEGLIGENCES"
Kabaiş rejected suicide allegations regarding his daughter's death, stating, "This is a murder, there are serious negligences." Kabaiş made striking remarks on many topics, from security deficiencies to lack of cameras, from suspicious statements to roommate allegations, and claimed that Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Şevli entered the autopsy.
SEDAT PEKER'S WORDS
Continuing his statement, the grieving father noted that Sedat Peker contacted them through his lawyers during that time, saying, "He sent his lawyers to our home. They said they would do whatever is necessary. I asked them to wait for about a week. We didn't want to do anything without informing the bar association or our lawyers. They haven't responded yet. He also made a post announcing a reward of 25 million TL for whoever finds the killer."
Part of the father's statements on the broadcast are as follows;
“I don't suspect the students at all. But the rector at that university is very problematic. I'm saying what I saw. He also interfered with the autopsy. He brought all his relatives, very close relatives, and placed them in jobs there. As if the university is not state property, but his private property. Whether security guards or workers there. He brought his relative and put him there. The man says, 'I am a lord, I will live like a lord.' But what did the Minister of Justice say? He said, 'Whoever it is, position or status doesn't matter. Whoever it is will be investigated and will face punishment.' Hopefully, with God's permission, this case will not remain in the dark. The Minister of Justice made good statements. I send my respects and regards here. I am very pleased.
“THEY TOOK HER THERE, LEFT HER, AND MADE IT LOOK LIKE SUICIDE”
I didn't give even 1 percent chance to suicide. Because I knew. They pressured me, said 'we found her by the lakeshore.' I said, 'let the autopsy be done first.' Before the autopsy, I went and saw my daughter. There was no swelling on her body. For 18 days, according to what they say, they say 'we are stating possibilities.' You state a possibility, you should also state the impossibility. For 18 days, Can Lake is salty. If she had stayed there, those clothes would have all worn out. Also, the distance is 24 kilometers; for 18 days, helicopters searched, divers searched, a sonar device was brought. They couldn't find anything. So it's clear. They harmed the child outside, took her, left her there. In other words, they made it look like suicide.
“THE RECTOR HAS BOTH NEGLIGENCES AND ALSO...”
The rector has both negligences, and the problem is also with his relatives. Think, the other day we went to Kanal D. He sent a letter. They said a letter came from the university administration. They read it, initially it said 'Rojin went there on her own will.' She went, but where did she disappear? There is no last camera inside the university garden. They said one of them was broken, and one was black and white. At that moment, I said to the Rector, 'Look, if you had installed 3-4 cameras here and on the other side, everything would be resolved clearly today.' At that moment, he also said, and he wrote the same in the list he sent to Kanal D, 'It is the public's private property.' Okay, it's the public's private property... The footage is still with me. After Rojin, they installed 5 cameras in that same corner, 4 of them are normal cameras. They cover that side he called private property. One is a rotating camera. Everything is visible there. Now, whether drunks or alcoholics, no one goes near there. Because it's clear, there's a camera. The man looks up, sees the camera, and doesn't go. Even if a patrol passed, he wouldn't go. They put a wire there; there was a 5-6 meter gap at the broken spot. People were using the university garden like a picnic area. If he had done these things before, why would this have happened?"
