FELL INTO CANAL, SWEPT AWAY BY CURRENT
The incident occurred in the Tahsilli neighborhood of Yüreğir district yesterday around 10:30 PM. Yusuf Ayık, who came to the edge of the irrigation canal with his friend, lost his balance after sitting for a while and fell into the water. It was learned that Ayık, who was swept away by the current, did not know how to swim and disappeared from sight in a short time.
SEARCHED THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT
Upon the notification, police, health, and fire department teams were dispatched to the region. The water flow into the canal was stopped by the prosecutor's order, and teams conducted searches along the shoreline throughout the night, but no results were obtained.
FOUND 6 KILOMETERS AWAY
The Underwater Group Directorate teams resumed their efforts in the morning. During the search in the drained canal, Yusuf Ayık's lifeless body was found approximately 6 kilometers from the point where he fell. Ayık's body, retrieved from the water by diver police, was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute morgue after the investigation at the scene.
