During Fenerbahçe's Extraordinary Elective General Assembly, chants by Hakan Safi supporters targeting Aziz Yıldırım caused tension. Assembly Chairman Şekip Mosturoğlu reacted saying, 'Did you come to the general assembly or a match?' and called for unity and solidarity.
Tension continues to rise from time to time at Fenerbahçe's Extraordinary Elective General Assembly. The chant rivalry between supporters of presidential candidates Aziz Yıldırım and Hakan Safi caused a new tension at the assembly.
CHANTS TARGETING AZIZ YILDIRIM
During the congress, Hakan Safi supporters drew attention in the hall by chanting "Lies, lies, lies, tricks, tricks, tricks, 8 years have passed, where have you been?" to Aziz Yıldırım. After the chants, there was a brief commotion in the assembly hall.
ŞEKİP MOSTUROĞLU REACTED
Following the incidents, Assembly Chairman Şekip Mosturoğlu intervened from the podium. Addressing the congress members, Mosturoğlu said, "Friends! Did you come to the assembly or to a match?"
"THEY WANT UNITY AND SOLIDARITY"
In a later statement, Mosturoğlu noted that he had spoken with the fans and called for the assembly to continue in a healthy manner.
The Assembly Chairman said, "I spoke with the fans. Everyone wants the assembly to continue in unity and solidarity. Let us listen to the speakers with democratic maturity."
PROGRAM CONTINUED AFTER THE TENSION
After Mosturoğlu's warnings, the tension in the hall subsided, and the assembly program resumed from where it left off. At the historic congress that will determine Fenerbahçe's new president, all eyes turned to the statements to be made by the candidates.
