"In the event I attended yesterday, I see that my response to a question asked about the head coaching position of the Turkish National Team has been interpreted, especially on social media, as if I were reproaching the appointment of Sergen Yalçın. My words 'They did not consult me' were a direct answer to the question asked; they did not contain any expectation, resentment, or complaint. In the national team, decisions are made by the relevant institutions and authorities. Responsibility for these decisions also belongs to them."
Güneş, saying "I wish Sergen Yalçın success in his role," said, "The success of the national team is our common wish. I felt the need to make this statement because I do not want my words to be evaluated in a different sense. I respectfully present it to the public's information."
