Former national footballer Serdar Aziz announced that he has ended his football career. Preparing to become a coach, Aziz stated that he still has a lingering regret because he could not leave Bursaspor as he wanted. Serdar Aziz also emphasized that not experiencing a championship with the Fenerbahçe jersey was an important missing point in his career.

Former national footballer Serdar Aziz announced that he has ended his active football career. Aziz, who attended the media meeting organized by the Bursa Branch of the Turkish Sports Writers Association (TSYD), said that he has started coaching training and plans to continue his career as a coach.

''MY FAREWELL TO BURSASPOR REMAINED AN UNFULFILLED REGRET INSIDE ME''

Touching on the issues that remained unresolved in his football career, Aziz stated that he could not complete the process of leaving Bursaspor as he wanted, and said, "I could not say a proper goodbye to Bursaspor when I was leaving. This has always remained an unfulfilled regret inside me. We were younger back then; managing some things is not easy. We are more experienced now. As a young Serdar, I could not quite manage that period."

''NOT BEING ABLE TO EXPERIENCE A CHAMPIONSHIP WITH FENERBAHÇE''

Aziz also said that not being able to experience a championship in a Fenerbahçe shirt was one of the issues that remained with him in his career, and used the following expressions: "We could not win a championship at Fenerbahçe. If there is something that will remain an unfulfilled regret inside me, it is not being able to experience a championship at Fenerbahçe. If you play for a big club, you need to become champions."

HIS RETURN TO BURSASPOR

Explaining that during the period he left Fenerbahçe, the possibility of returning to Bursaspor came onto the agenda, Aziz said that no serious transfer meeting took place with the club. Stating that if an offer came, he wanted to return to Bursaspor without any financial expectations, Aziz also expressed that he wanted to serve the green-and-white club as a coach in the future.

''IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, IT WASN'T MEANT TO BE''

Also speaking about a testimonial, the former national footballer stated that such an idea had been conveyed to him by Bursaspor, but the process did not conclude, and said, "It is a nice thing for every footballer. Having a testimonial in a packed stadium as the reward for the effort you have put in for years is nice. It was also conveyed to me by Bursaspor, but afterward we could not reach a result. I was thinking, I wish I had such a testimonial match too. It didn't happen; it wasn't meant to be."
