Floods hit the districts of Narman, Karayazı, and Oltu in Erzurum, causing streams to overflow and resulting in material damage in some villages and neighborhoods. In Karayazı district, a shepherd named Yakup Eren went missing after being swept away by the rising waters while crossing a stream. The gendarmerie, AFAD, and medical teams have initiated search efforts to find the shepherd. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in some districts of Muş, Ağrı, and Kars caused severe downpours and led to flooding.
Heavy rains caused floods in the districts of Narman, Karayazı, and Oltu in Erzurum. In Karayazı district, a shepherd went missing in the stream due to the flood.
Erzurum was hit by floods during these hot days. The heavy rain that affected 3 districts had a negative impact on life. In Narman district, floods occurred in the streams in Alabalık neighborhood due to the rainfall. Overflowing streams caused some agricultural lands to be submerged in water. Firefighters and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area upon notification and started working.
23-YEAR-OLD SHEPHERD SWEPT AWAY WHILE CROSSING THE STREAM
Yakup Eren, a 23-year-old shepherd who grazed animals in rural Sukonak neighborhood, Karayazı district, was swept away by the rising current while crossing the stream after the heavy rain. Upon receiving information from the shepherd who grazed animals together, gendarmerie, AFAD, fire brigade, and health teams were dispatched to the area.
Search and rescue efforts were initiated for the shepherd who went missing in the stream, and a search and rescue team affiliated with Trabzon Gendarmerie Command was also sent to the area. Supported by construction machinery, the teams continue their search for the shepherd Yakup Eren.
FLOODWATERS FLOODED THE FIELDS
The overflowing Dümbüllü Stream in Nügürcük Village, Oltu district, due to heavy rains, frightened the residents. As the floodwaters rose, the stream damaged cultivated lands and started to threaten houses. While the residents took measures to protect themselves from the overflowing stream, teams were dispatched to the area for damage assessment.
