Ceren Önder Kandemir, the daughter of Sırrı Süreyya Önder, responded to claims regarding her father's inheritance. Kandemir stated, "My father had 2 million TL in all his bank accounts and a Citroen car; he had neither a house nor any debts."
After the death of DEM Party Member of Parliament and Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who passed away on May 3, 2025, his daughter Ceren Önder Kandemir clarified the allegations regarding his assets that have been discussed in the public.
"IF ANYONE DISBELIEVES, I WILL PROVIDE DOCUMENTS"
Kandemir stated in her article published on T24, "My father Sırrı Süreyya Önder served as a member of parliament for years, wrote countless scripts, and directed films. The total of all his bank accounts amounted to 2 million Turkish liras and a Citroen car was found in his estate. He had no dollar accounts, no properties, and no debts. If anyone disbelieves, I would be honored to document it," she said.
"HE COULDN'T EVEN BUY A 1+1 APARTMENT WITH HIS BANK MONEY"
Kandemir noted that her father lived in a 2+1 apartment in Mecidiyeköy, for which he paid a rent of 15,000 TL, stating, "With all the money in the bank, he couldn't even buy a 1+1 apartment for himself, maybe a mediocre car..."

Responding to criticisms from some circles questioning, "How can a member of parliament, someone who has served as Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, not own a house?" Kandemir emphasized that her father never compromised on his honesty and principles throughout his life: "If you don't have a square meter of land inherited from your family, it won't happen. If you have made solidarity a habit, it won't happen. If you have sworn not to get into debt and not to get pregnant by anyone, it won't happen. If you don't make promises that benefit anyone, it won't happen. If you don't use the power of your position, it won't happen."
