Fezzle activity is heating up in CHP corridors ahead of the new legislative year. It is alleged that figures close to Kılıçdaroğlu will vote in favor of lifting immunities, stating "One cannot hide behind the shield of immunity," for the fezzles, including the 61 files of 'New Party' leader Özgür Özel, if they come to the Parliament's agenda.

With the approach of the new legislative year, reports regarding parliamentary immunity have resurfaced in the corridors of the Parliament. According to claims, figures close to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu are preparing to vote in favor of lifting immunities if the files come before the General Assembly.

"ONE CANNOT HIDE BEHIND THE ARMOR OF IMMUNITY"

According to a report by Türkiye Gazetesi, aides close to Kılıçdaroğlu within the CHP argue that leaving allegations reflected in public without consequences is not correct from either a political or legal perspective.

Stating that individuals against whom allegations exist should be able to defend themselves before the judiciary, the aides emphasize that immunity should not mean complete exemption from the judicial process. Sources close to Kılıçdaroğlu summarize their stance on the issue with the following words:

"One cannot hide behind the armor of immunity. If there is an allegation, there should be no fear of appearing before the judiciary. If the files come to the agenda, our hands will be raised to lift the immunities."

EYES ON THE NEW LEGISLATIVE YEAR

The files awaiting in Parliament are expected to be brought to the agenda of the General Assembly following the process of the Joint Commission composed of members of the Constitution and Justice Committees. In the corridors, the autumn months and the new legislative year are pointed to as the time for the process to accelerate.

61 FILES EXIST REGARDING ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

Among the immunity files expected to come to the agenda, the situation of Yeni Party Chairman Özgür Özel draws attention. It is stated that there are a total of 61 immunity files regarding Özel in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

It was reported that before the establishment of the Yeni Party, 356 files belonging to approximately 75 CHP deputies were in Parliament, and with the transition of 91 deputies to the Yeni Party, a significant portion of these files has been associated with the new party group. How exactly the process will progress and whether immunities will be lifted will become clear once the files are brought to the Parliament's agenda.
