In Şişli, Istanbul, the Municipal Council approved a significant increase in parking fees by up to 137.5% with a majority vote. While the AK Party group voted 'no' on the proposal, the details of the new fee schedule were announced.
The second session of the December meetings of the Municipal Council in the Şişli district of Istanbul was held in the council hall of the municipality under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chairman of the Council, Nurettin Tan.
During the meeting, the proposal for "Fee Tariffs to be Applied in 2025" was discussed, which includes a price increase of up to 137.5% for the parking fees of the parking lots operated by the municipality.
In the proposal, the Topağacı Closed Parking Lot's;
- the parking fee for up to 1 hour is proposed to increase from 55 TL to 130 TL with a 136.36% increase,
- the parking fee for 1-2 hours is proposed to increase from 80 TL to 190 TL with a 137.5% increase,
- the parking fee for 2-4 hours is proposed to increase from 110 TL to 250 TL with a 127.27% increase,
- the parking fee for 4-6 hours is proposed to increase from 140 TL to 320 TL with a 128.57% increase.
In the proposal, it is requested that the newly determined parking fee for the 6-8 hour range be 400 TL, and the parking fee for 8-12 hours is proposed to increase from 200 TL to 460 TL with a 130% increase, while the parking fee for 12-24 hours is proposed to increase from 250 TL to 580 TL with a 132% increase.
PARKING FEES BURNED A HOLE IN THE POCKET
The parking fee for car subscribers is requested to increase from 2,200 TL to 5,000 TL with a 127.27% increase, while the parking fee for land, SUV, pickup, and van vehicles is requested to increase from 2,600 TL to 6,000 TL with a 130.76% increase.
At Derviş Eroğlu Closed Parking Lot, Osmanbey Closed Parking Lot, Lalaşahin Open Parking Lot, and Maçka Marriage Office Parking Lot;
- the parking fee for up to 1 hour is proposed to increase from 55 TL to 115 TL,
- the parking fee for 1-2 hours is proposed to increase from 80 TL to 170 TL,
- the parking fee for 2-4 hours is proposed to increase from 110 TL to 230 TL,
- the parking fee for 4-6 hours is proposed to increase from 140 TL to 290 TL.
In the proposal, it is requested that the newly determined parking fee for the 6-8 hour range be 350 TL, and the parking fee for 8-12 hours is proposed to increase from 200 TL to 410 TL, while the parking fee for 12-24 hours is proposed to increase from 250 TL to 520 TL.
INCREASES EXCEEDING 100%
AKP Council Member Kadir Demez stated that there are increases exceeding 100% in the parking fees proposed. Demez mentioned that the increase rates for parking fees in other municipalities are around 40-50%, saying, "Our citizens have short-term entries and exits to the parking lots. The tariff used to state, 'Half an hour free,' but we could not see this statement here."
ACCEPTED BY MAJORITY VOTE
After the discussions, the proposal for "Fee Tariffs to be Applied in 2025" was accepted by a majority vote against the "no" votes from the AKP group.
