Sacit Terzi, a CHP council member elected as acting mayor to replace Şile Mayor Özgür Kabadayı—who was arrested and suspended as part of a 'corruption' investigation—announced his resignation from the party.
CHP's Sacit Terzi, who was elected as the acting mayor after the arrest of Şile Mayor Özgür Kabadayı in a corruption investigation, announced his resignation from the party.
In a post on his social media account, Terzi said, 'Today, I want to share one of the important decisions of my political life with the public.
For nearly 40 years under the roof of the Republican People's Party, believing in the fundamental principles and values of my party, I have dedicated all my knowledge, effort, and energy to serving our people. Throughout this long journey, I extend my sincerest thanks to all my comrades with whom I struggled and worked shoulder to shoulder, and to our esteemed citizens who trusted me.'
Şile Deputy Mayor Sacit Terzi 'I RESPECTFULLY ANNOUNCE MY RESIGNATION FROM THE REPUBLICAN PEOPLE'S PARTY' In his post, Terzi stated, 'Especially being able to serve our Şile and taking part in works that add value to the lives of our fellow citizens has always been a great honor and responsibility for me. For the development, peace, and future of Şile, I will continue to work with all my strength, just as I have until now. However, over time, I have witnessed that the expectations of our country, our Şile, and our nation have changed significantly. In the face of this change, I believe that politics must be conducted with a solution-oriented, inclusive, constructive, and service-focused understanding. For me, politics is about uniting, not dividing; reconciling, not conflict; producing works and services, not polemics. The primary duty of politics is to prioritize the common interests of our nation and produce lasting solutions that touch the lives of our citizens. This decision is not the result of any resentment, anger, or personal expectation. On the contrary, it is a natural outcome of long evaluations, a conscientious accounting, and the responsibility to serve our Şile more effectively. In the process ahead, regardless of my position or responsibility, without regard to rank or title, my only priority will be to serve our Şile, our nation, and our country to the best of my ability. Having concluded that I cannot provide beneficial services to the people of Şile under the roof of the CHP, I respectfully announce my resignation from the Republican People's Party.'
