In May, as public holidays fall close to each other, employees can enjoy a 16-day continuous holiday by using only 5.5 days of leave.
Employees have already accelerated their annual leave and vacation planning for the upcoming May. This year, May 1st Labor and Solidarity Day, May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, and Eid al-Adha falling close together in the same month create a significant advantage for those looking to take a holiday.
THE OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS CALENDAR DRAWS ATTENTION
The first holiday of May, May 1st Labor and Solidarity Day, falls on a Friday. This allows employees to take a short 3-day break combined with the weekend without needing extra leave.
Immediately following, May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day falls on a Tuesday. Employees can use 1 day of annual leave on Monday, May 18th, and include the weekend in their holiday to create a 4-day block. Those who extend their leave to 3 days can turn this into a 6-day rest period lasting the entire week.
5.5 DAYS OF LEAVE ENABLES A 16-DAY HOLIDAY
The biggest opportunity in May arises from combining the May 19th holiday with the Eid al-Adha break. According to the calendar, the eve of Eid al-Adha falls on Tuesday, May 26th, while the holiday ends on Saturday, May 30th.
Employees can plan as follows, including weekends:
- Monday, May 18th (1 full day of leave)
- May 20, 21, 22 (3 full days of leave)
- Monday, May 25th (1 full day of leave)
- Tuesday, May 26th (Eve, half day of leave)
An employee using a total of 5.5 days of annual leave can enjoy an uninterrupted 16-day holiday starting from Saturday, May 16th, and extending through Sunday, May 31st.
