Singer Tarkan re-recorded his song "Uyan" by adapting it into English for the United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in Antalya, hosted by Türkiye. In the music video for the song prepared under the name "Wake Up," attention was drawn to the effects of climate change, while a call was made to the world to take action.
Preparations are ongoing for COP31, which will be hosted by Türkiye in Antalya between November 9-20. As part of the preparations carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, artists and volunteers are also taking part in awareness efforts on climate change.
THE SONG'S LYRICS AND MUSIC BELONG TO TARKAN
Singer Tarkan adapted his song "Uyan," whose lyrics and music belong to him, into English for the climate summit and re-recorded it under the title "Wake Up."
A CALL TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE CLIMATE CRISIS
In the music video, which features images related to climate change and environmental problems, attention is drawn to the importance of individual and social responsibility.
In the Turkish version of the song, the lines "Uyan, uyan, dostum, uyan. Koy elini kalbine vaktimiz dolmadan" emphasize that action must be taken without wasting time. The song, which also includes messages of solidarity and joint struggle, calls for acting together in the face of climate change without giving in to despair.
Within the scope of awareness efforts for the summit, Türkiye had previously prepared an English-language song titled "Let's COP." Tarkan's "Wake Up" project has also taken its place among the music projects carried out for COP31.
