Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş spoke very clearly about the fund investigation. Kurtulmuş said, "Whoever unjustly pockets the nation's money in any way, all of them must be held accountable. It appears that some of them did this systematically. In other words, they carried it out within an organized structure. All state institutions must uncover these. Those who did this must be made to pay dearly."
Kurtulmuş answered questions on a TRT Haber live broadcast in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, where he was attending the 15th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TÜRKPA).
After being reminded that the 15th TÜRKPA General Assembly included messages about Gaza and Palestine as well as a Terror-Free Türkiye and a terror-free region, and when asked to assess his contacts, Kurtulmuş stated that as Türkiye they attach great importance to TÜRKPA and the Organization of Turkic States.
IMPORTANT MESSAGES FROM KURTULMUŞ IN BISHKEK
Kurtulmuş stated that TÜRKPA is an extremely valuable and extremely unique platform for parliamentarians to work closely, determine a common agenda, and develop joint ideas against regional and global problems.
Expressing his wish that over the years this assembly become much stronger and more powerful and turn into one of the world's respected parliamentary assemblies, Kurtulmuş noted that Türkiye provides exceptionally serious support to both structures.
Kurtulmuş also recalled that the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States will be held in Ankara on October 29-30, hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Stating that there was a busy agenda at the 15th TÜRKPA General Assembly and that they held a successful meeting, Kurtulmuş said that not only member countries but also observer countries such as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and observer international organizations took part in this meeting.
"CYPRUS'S ISOLATION WILL ALSO COME TO AN END"
Stating that for years there have been unjust practices, isolations, and very serious diplomatic embargoes against the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Kurtulmuş said, "If they could, they would not allow the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus even to breathe. Through such platforms, I believe that Cyprus's continuous bilateral contacts with these countries as well as its contacts with organizations such as TÜRKPA are very valuable and meaningful. I also believe this: I hope that in the coming years Cyprus's isolation will also come to an end. They will somehow have to abandon these embargoes imposed on Cyprus. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will also continue its existence there as a truly strong state."
THE TERROR-FREE TÜRKİYE PROCESS
After it was stated that the Terror-Free Türkiye process was also brought up at the TÜRKPA General Assembly, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Kurtulmuş, in response to a question about the monitoring commission to be established in Parliament, said:
"You may ask, 'Why did you discuss the Terror-Free Türkiye issue at the TÜRKPA General Assembly?' We also discuss it in other international venues. Because what we see is that in many parts of the world there are negotiations between terrorist organizations and states, and these negotiations have taken many years. There are experiences that lasted for many years even after shaking hands and deciding to act together. From this perspective, the activities we carry out under the name Terror-Free Türkiye, and especially the process that developed in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye through a commission, and the law adopted on August 10, 2026, with the 'yes' votes of 467 deputies, are truly exceptionally important.
Türkiye is managing a process specific to itself. This is in fact a model that we can now explain everywhere in the world as the Türkiye Model. It is a process that has taken tangible form and whose results we have begun to see gradually. I hope that in the shortest time the terrorist organization will completely dissolve itself and its disarmament will be ensured. After that, it is obvious that steps will be taken much more quickly. Therefore, we are telling the world that the Terror-Free Türkiye issue is not a political statement or a slogan, but a process that has great contributions to Türkiye and the region. Especially in the eyes of those who closely follow conflict resolution, Türkiye has taken a successful step in this process. We will continue to explain this on international platforms as well."
Stating that within the scope of the process they constantly held talks with parties, Kurtulmuş said, "If the report in the commission was accepted with the votes of 47 out of 50 deputies, and the law was accepted with the broad participation of 467 deputies, this is undoubtedly due to the existence of a negotiation ground open to dialogue that we maintain in this parliament. Of course, how will ideas mature without being discussed mutually? How can a step be taken on such an important issue without ideas maturing? In fact, within this process a commission will also be established in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, and we will complete that as soon as possible."
"THE FUND INVESTIGATION IS NOT A MATTER TO BE TOLERATED"
After it was recalled that the Bill on Certain Investment Funds Decided to Be Liquidated would come to the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, and when asked for his assessment, Kurtulmuş stated that the Fund Coordination Board chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz must have certain tools and arguments at its disposal and that this bill should be enacted as soon as possible.
Stating that Türkiye had encountered some similar crises in past periods, but that this fund issue closely concerns everyone, whether or not they have money in the fund, and has become a matter related to increasing trust in the Turkish economy, Kurtulmuş continued his assessment as follows:
"The determination of our President here is exceptionally important. There is no room for any tolerance, and there should not be, whoever it reaches, whomever it touches… Whoever has unjustly pocketed the people's money in any way, all of them must be held accountable. It appears that some of them did this systematically. In other words, they carried it out within an organized structure. All state institutions must bring these to light. Those who did this must be made to pay dearly. This is not something said in anger; I am saying it very calmly.
This is not a matter to be tolerated in such a way, and it should not be. I hope that in the shortest time Türkiye will also get rid of this fund issue. Whoever has guilt, fault, or sin anywhere, and whoever was negligent in whatever way, all of them must pay the price so that trust in the economy in Türkiye is strongly renewed once again."
