The New Party, founded by 91 members of parliament who split from the CHP under the leadership of Özgür Özel, held a closed group meeting at the Turkish Grand National Assembly at 11:45 AM. The closed-door meeting, chaired by Özgür Özel, lasted about half an hour and was attended by all members of parliament.
"STAY AWAY FROM CHP'S INTERNAL DISCUSSIONS"
Özel, stating that they are opening a clean and new page in politics with the newly established party, gave strict warnings to the deputies to stay away from past polemics. Expressing that the focus should be on the citizens' agenda, Özel gave the following critical messages in his speech: "Keep yourself away from sterile debates, individual polemics, and especially from the internal discussions of the CHP. Avoid even jokes about these issues. The matter is the citizen's matter."
"THE NEW PARTY HAS COMPLETED ITS FOUNDATION"
After the meeting, Özgür Özel made statements to the press, emphasizing that the party's structuring process has been fully completed and said: "We held our first closed group meeting. Our Duty Group Deputy Chairman will make the statements in accordance with the procedure. As of now, there is no decision to be made or an election to be held in the establishment process of the New Party Group. From now on, the New Party has completed its establishment, and the New Party has started its duties with all its administrators, group management, group deputy chairmen, Assembly administrative officer, clerk member, and as you followed last week, with its PM, YDK, and executive board. May it be auspicious for all of us."
A MEETING WITH MAYORS WILL ALSO BE HELD
At the end of his statement, Özgür Özel also answered questions from journalists. When asked whether a meeting with mayors will be held in the coming days, he replied, "It will happen."
