In Kağıthane, Istanbul, 19-year-old Emre B. harassed a 26-year-old woman whom he followed and entered the building after. When the woman had a nervous breakdown and screamed, the residents of the building rushed to help. The fleeing harasser was caught while making bread at the bakery where he worked. It was learned that the suspect claimed in his statement, "I just said hello," while the horrifying moments were captured on security cameras.
On April 19, Sunday, around 01:00, terrifying minutes were experienced in the Yahya Kemal neighborhood of Kağıthane district in Istanbul.
FOLLOWED AND HARASSED THE YOUNG WOMAN
According to the allegation; the suspect, who followed İrem Nur B. (26) on her way home, physically harassed the woman at the entrance of the building. After the incident, the suspect ran away as the woman screamed.
NEIGHBORS RUSHED TO THE WOMAN'S SCREAMS
After the incident, the residents of the building, hearing the screams of the woman who was having a nervous breakdown, rushed to help, asking, 'What happened?' Upon hearing the woman crying and explaining what she had experienced, a resident of the building ran out half-naked to chase the suspect. Another resident of the building also came to the man's side after a while. The events were captured by security cameras second by second.
CAUGHT WHILE MAKING BREAD IN THE BAKERY
After the incident, upon İrem Nur B.'s complaint, the police of the Kağıthane Public Order Bureau initiated an investigation. In their work, the police teams examined numerous security cameras in the neighborhood to determine the suspect's escape route. In a study that lasted approximately 12 hours, the teams, who followed the trail step by step, identified the suspect's identity by also reviewing footage obtained from different locations.
In ongoing investigations, it was determined that the suspect worked in a bakery located in the Yahya Kemal neighborhood. The police of the Kağıthane Public Order Bureau, who took action, caught Emre B. (19) while he was making bread in the bakery during an operation they conducted at his workplace. It was found that Emre B., who was taken into custody, had a record for 'Sexual abuse of a child' in the police database.
"I JUST GREETED, I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING"
It was learned that the suspect stated in his statement that he just greeted and did not do anything else, and he was referred to the courthouse after his procedures. The suspect was arrested by the court he was brought before for the crime of "Sexual harassment" and sent to prison.
