Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi witnessed the marriage ceremony of Muhammed Emin Aşgın, the son of Çorum Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın, and Rümeysa Kocur. Wishing happiness to the young couple, Çiftçi cited population growth policies in Australia as an example and advised the couple to have children.
In a ceremony held at a wedding hall in Çorum, the couple Muhammed Emin Aşgın and Rümeysa Kocur were married. The young couple's marriage was officiated by the groom's father, Çorum Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın. The witnesses to the couple's marriage were Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi, Chief Adviser to the President Turgut Aslan, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey's Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission Mustafa Varank, AK Party Deputy Chairman Hülya Terzioğlu, and members of parliament.
Mayor Aşgın, who stated that he experienced the excitement of officiating his son's marriage, wished the couple a lifetime of happiness.
MINISTER ÇİFTÇİ'S ADVICE ON HAVING CHILDREN: HE CITED AUSTRALIA AS AN EXAMPLE Minister Çiftçi, noting that during his time as governor in Çorum he and Mayor Aşgın attended many wedding ceremonies, said, 'Our mayor officiated the marriage, and I acted as a witness. But this time I saw our mayor very excited.'
Offering advice to the young couple about married life, Çiftçi said, 'There is a proverb from the Yozgat region: A son marries and leaves your hand; a daughter marries and leaves the house. Because they have now become a family too. This should be regarded as quite normal. I pray that this marriage will be auspicious and blessed for our young siblings. At one time, population growth policies were pursued in Australia. In order to increase the population, at such wedding ceremonies, children were always requested for a mother, for a father, and for the country. I repeat this advice to our young siblings. May God grant them auspicious children. May He grant auspicious grandchildren to our mayor and to his in-laws as well,' he said.
Handing the marriage certificate to the bride and groom together, Çiftçi said, 'Since our young siblings established this family together, I am presenting this family certificate to them together so that they may continue their marriage and this home together. I congratulate them again and wish them a lifetime of happiness.'
The ceremony ended after a prayer was made for the young couple.
