Mehmet Avcı, the General Director of Procurement Services of the Ministry of National Defense, has been removed from duty. By the decision published in the Official Gazette, Zikrullah Erdoğan, the District Governor of Diyarbakır Çınar, was appointed to replace Avcı. It was noted that Erdoğan is only 33 years old.
According to the appointment decision published with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Mehmet Avci, the General Director of Procurement Services at the Ministry of National Defense, was dismissed. Zikrullah Erdogan, the District Governor of Diyarbakir Cinar, was appointed to the vacant position.
The high-level bureaucratic appointment made at a young age drew attention in the public.
FIRST STATEMENT FROM ZIKRULLAH ERDOGAN: I EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE
Following the appointment decision, Zikrullah Erdogan made a statement on his social media account, saying:
“I have been appointed as the General Director of Procurement Services at the Ministry of National Defense by the appreciation and approval of our President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
I extend my gratitude to our President Mr. Recep Tayyip ERDOGAN, who deemed me worthy of this duty, and to our Minister Mr. Yasar GULER.
May God grant us the opportunity to serve our homeland, our glorious flag, and our nation with goodness.”
WHO IS ZIKRULLAH ERDOGAN?
Born in 1993 in the Guneysu district of Rize, Zikrullah Erdogan completed his primary and secondary education in Rize. He graduated from Istanbul University's Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration in 2016.
During the same period, he also completed the Department of Political Science and International Relations within the double major program at Istanbul University. During his university years, he served as a manager in various non-governmental organizations.
After working at Halk Bank for a while, Erdogan passed the District Governor candidacy exam opened by the Ministry of Interior and stepped into the profession of civil administration.
SERVED IN DIFFERENT PROVINCES OF TURKEY
Completing his provincial center internship at the Rize Governorship, Erdogan did his assistant district governor internship in the Pinarhisar district of Kirklareli. He served as Acting District Governor in the Agacoren district of Aksaray.
Completing his inspection internship accompanied by a civil inspector in Edirne, Erdogan received language training at the University of Sheffield in England as part of his overseas internship.
After the Term District Governor Course, he served as district governor in the Uluborlu district of Isparta between 2020-2022 and in the Halfeti district of Sanliurfa between 2022-2024. Erdogan was appointed to the Diyarbakir Cinar District Governorate on July 1, 2024.
It was learned that Erdogan, who is married and has one child, has a good command of English.
