The public opinion research company GENAR asked 2,200 participants about the topics "AK Party-CHP competition, economy, and the process of a Terror-Free Turkey" in its latest survey. İhsan Aktaş, the Chairman of GENAR Research Consultancy Education, shared GENAR's October report in his article in Yeni Şafak.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AK PARTY AND CHP IS VERY LOW
According to GENAR's October report; the responses of participants to the question "If a parliamentary election were held today, which party would you vote for?" resulted in the following vote percentages for the parties:
- AK Party 33.7 percent
- CHP 31.8 percent
- DEM Party 9.4 percent
- MHP 8.4 percent
- Good Party 4.5 percent
- Victory Party 3.7 percent
- New Welfare 2.8 percent
- Key Party 2.1 percent
- TIP 1.3 percent
- Felicity Party 1.1 percent
- Others 1.2 percent.
"THE TABLE HAS BEEN CLOSE TO THESE DATA FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS"
Evaluating the survey results, İhsan Aktaş stated, "For the last six months, the table has been close to these data; there is no significant change in the competition between parties. At first glance, Turkish politics seems to be dominated by the competition between AK Party and CHP, but the position of MHP within the People's Alliance, the stance DEM Party will take in the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process, and the positions of nationalist parties like New Welfare and Felicity will fundamentally affect both the AK Party-CHP competition and their own politics."
"CITIZENS SAY THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE IN THE COUNTRY IS 'ECONOMY'"
Aktaş expressed that the majority of citizens responded "Economy" to the question "What is the most important problem in our country?" and added, "Despite such a high level of economic concern, the fact that AK Party maintains its lead means that even a small improvement in the economy could gain at least 5 points for the People's Alliance. This indicates that the People's Alliance is still in an advantageous position in political competition.
MHP and DEM Party are maintaining their positions. The votes MHP receives in elections are about two points higher than what is measured in public opinion surveys. The other parties outside of MHP and DEM will gain meaning according to the position they will take when entering the election process," he said.
"THE MOST STRIKING CHANGE IN THE PROCESS IS AMONG CHP VOTERS"
Aktaş stated, "The social support given to the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process is increasing day by day. The most striking change in this process is occurring among CHP voters. Every month, the support of CHP voters for the process is increasing."
89.9% OF AK PARTY VOTERS SUPPORT THE PROCESS
According to GENAR's research, the rate of those supporting the Terror-Free Turkey process in the general population is 69.7%, while the rate of those not supporting it is 20.7%, and those with no opinion is recorded as 9.6%.
The distribution of support for the Terror-Free Turkey process by political parties is as follows:
- 89.9% of AK Party voters,
- 81.9% of MHP voters,
- 79.9% of DEM Party voters,
- 56.8% of CHP voters,
- 37.5% of Good Party voters.
Evaluating the data, İhsan Aktaş stated, "This table shows that the process is perceived as a national issue rather than an ideological one; it has found meaningful responses across different political bases. Especially the support of more than half of CHP voters indicates that the search for peace and security in Turkey has transformed into a social consensus that transcends party boundaries."
