A striking claim about US billionaire investor Warren Buffett's water consumption has come to the fore. Businessman Bill Ackman said on a podcast he appeared on that Buffett told him he had not drunk water for 48 years. Buffett had previously stated that he drinks five cans of cola a day, saying, "A quarter of my body is cola."

Warren Buffett, one of the world's richest investors, has once again brought a striking claim about his water consumption to the agenda. The billionaire investor's unusual habit came to light through statements on a podcast program featuring Bill Ackman, founder and CEO of Pershing Square. Ackman said Buffett told him that he “had not drunk water in 48 years.”

THE SURPRISING ANSWER TO A DINNER QUESTION

On the Equity Mates Investing podcast released on October 28, Bill Ackman shared an interesting exchange from years ago when he hosted Warren Buffett at his home.

Noting that he had stocked Cherry Coke in advance because he knew Buffett's passion, Ackman asked whether he wanted water or sparkling water with the meal.

It was recorded that Buffett declined the offer of water and, in response to Ackman's question, said, “Bill, I haven't drunk water in 48 years.” However, it is noted that this claim is based on a past memory of Ackman's and may not fully reflect the famous investor's current dietary routine.

“A QUARTER OF MY BODY IS COCA-COLA”

Warren Buffett's passion for cola is not actually new.

In a 2015 interview, he stated that he drank at least 5 cans of Coca-Cola a day and got a quarter of his daily calorie intake from the beverage.

Summarizing his dietary habits humorously with the words “A quarter of my body consists of Coca-Cola,” Buffett announced in 1986 that he had given up Pepsi and switched to Cherry Coke.

HIS COLA PASSION TURNED INTO A HUGE INVESTMENT

Buffett's love of Coca-Cola was not limited to a personal habit but turned into a giant commercial success. His investment company Berkshire Hathaway made a $1.3 billion stock investment in the company in the 1990s. The market value of this investment by Berkshire Hathaway, which owns approximately 9% of Coca-Cola, reached about $28 billion at the end of 2025.
