The area around the dry cargo ship named 'Ninova,' which ran aground on the coast of Sakarya's Karasu district due to a storm, has been declared a 'dangerous area' for sea entry by the Karasu District Governorate's decision. Under the supervision of the Coast Guard Command teams, red buoys were placed around the ship by the Metropolitan Municipality lifeguard teams, creating a safety cordon.
The area around the 'Ninova' dry cargo ship, which washed ashore due to a storm in the Karasu district of Sakarya, has been declared a dangerous zone for sea entry. A safety perimeter has been set up with red buoys, and citizens are prohibited from approaching the ship.
"SWIMMING AROUND THE SHIP IS BANNED"
According to the decision, the risky area immediately around the ship has been removed from the responsibility zone of lifeguards, citizens will not be allowed to approach this area, and a warning stating "Swimming in this area is dangerous" will be issued. On the other hand, a special safe zone has been created with buoys in the area to prevent any inconvenience for citizens coming to the shore. Citizens will be able to swim within these designated safe limits, but they will absolutely not be allowed near the ship.
"WE WILL KEEP THAT AREA OUTSIDE"
Making a detailed statement about the security measures taken at the scene regarding the issue, Samet Karaca, Lifeguard Group Supervisor of the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, explained the situation in the dangerous area, saying, "The area related to the ship, which is on Karasu Beach and was dragged ashore by a storm in recent days, has been closed to people's entry. Since rescue operations cannot be carried out there in a possible problem, i.e., when wave height rises, we decided to close that area for sea use to avoid risking our own personnel and to protect the health of citizens. That area is not included in the lifeguard zone; red buoys have been placed there. Markings have been made. We will keep that area outside. In case of an incident, since intervention will not be possible, it will not be under our lifeguard responsibility to avoid risking our personnel."
Authorities warned citizens coming to the shore to comply with the rules and not to swim in the area marked with red buoys or near the ship.
