Syrians living in Hatay flocked to the car market to sell their vehicles as they prepare to return to their country after years.

After 13 years of civil war in Syria and the fall of the 61-year Baath regime, people have started to return to their countries after many years. Syrians living in Hatay have also begun to sell the houses and vehicles they purchased to establish a new life when they return to their homeland. Syrians wanting to sell their vehicles are offering them for sale below market value, with prices ranging from 300,000 TL to 500,000 TL, in the market set up in the Haraparası neighborhood of Antakya district. As Syrians eager to sell their vehicles quickly started to list them at low prices, activity began to increase in the car market.

"I WILL GO TO SYRIA IN A FEW MONTHS"

Mohammed Ismail, who wants to sell his car for 300,000 TL and return to his country, said, "We came to the car market. I will sell my car here and go to Syria in a few months. I have been coming to the car market for 2 weeks, but I haven't sold it yet. I will go to Idlib. I have been living here for 13 years. I will sell the car and go back home. I haven't been there for 13 years, and I will see the situation in a few months. There are no houses in Syria, but I will go there. I will build a house. I thank Turkey very much for this. I thank the President, the Turkish people, and the state very much. I hope I will sell my car. I am trying to sell the car for 300,000 TL," he said.

"I WILL RETURN TO MY HOMELAND"

Eyman Barkur, who plans to sell his vehicle for 250,000 TL and return to his country after the schools close, said, "I have been living in Turkey for 13 years. I have been coming to the car market for 2 weeks, but I haven't sold it yet. I am selling the car for 250,000 TL. I will sell the car and go to Syria after the schools close. I will return to my homeland. Our house there was destroyed, but I will go and renovate it. Syria will improve in the future and will be better. Thank you very much to Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. I have lived here for 13 years, but there have been no problems," he said.

THEY ARE SELLING CHEAPER THAN THE MARKET

Ömer Arslaner, who said that all Syrians started coming to the car market to sell their vehicles after the Assad regime ended, stated, "This is a car market that is set up every Sunday. Before the Bashar Assad regime ended, no Syrian was selling their vehicle here. In fact, they used to come here to buy vehicles but never came to sell. After the Bashar Assad regime ended, all Syrian friends are trying to sell their vehicles here. Syrians selling their vehicles are going back to their homeland. Syrians are selling their vehicles cheaper than the market, and they say they will sell their cars and return to their country. After selling their cars and going back to their homeland, they will continue their work and life there. The fact that Syrians are selling their vehicles cheaply affects the market. They are offering their vehicles at reasonable prices to get rid of them. Every week, 5 or 7 Syrians come here to sell their vehicles," he expressed.
