After Ferdi Zeyrek, who passed away in the hospital where he was being treated after being electrocuted, the Mayor of Manisa was elected as Besim Dutlulu.
The new mayor who has come in place of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who lost his life due to electric shock at home, has been announced. As a result of the voting held in the Municipal Council, the new mayor of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality is Akhisar Mayor Besim Dutlulu.

AK Party Manisa Provincial Chairman Süleyman Turgut had announced that they would not nominate a candidate for the mayoral election to be held in the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality due to Zeyrek's death.
WHO IS BESİM DUTLULU?
Besim Dutlulu was born on September 29, 1979, in the Akhisar district of Manisa. Dutlulu, who chose the same profession as his family, has a mother and father who are both pharmacists. His father, Ahmet Dutlulu, served as the Mayor of Akhisar from the True Path Party between 1994 and 1999.
Completing his primary education in Akhisar, Dutlulu received his secondary and high school education in İzmir as a boarding student. After high school, he continued his education at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Ege University and graduated in 2005. After graduation, he took over the family pharmacy and began his professional life in Akhisar.
Besim Dutlulu, who joined the Republican People's Party (CHP) in 2014, served as the Akhisar District Representative of the Manisa Pharmacists' Chamber for about ten years. On October 24, 2018, he announced his candidacy for the Akhisar Mayor from CHP for the local elections to be held in 2019. During this process, he resigned from his district representative position.
Due to the large number of candidates from CHP in Akhisar, a preference poll was conducted on December 2, 2018. In the voting among six candidates, Dutlulu received the most support and was determined as the mayoral candidate by his party. In the local elections on March 31, 2019, Besim Dutlulu, who ran as the candidate of the Nation Alliance, was elected as the Mayor of Akhisar with a vote rate of 55.41% (61,001 votes).
Dutlulu, who actively serves in many non-governmental organizations and associations in Akhisar, is also a member of EDAK, ÇEKOP, and FARMAKOOP, which are cooperation organizations in the pharmacy sector.
Besim Dutlulu, who married Özge Dutlulu in 2005, has twin children named Ege and Simge.
