In Istanbul, the Taksim station of the Yenikapı-Hacıosman metro line and the F1 Taksim-Kabataş funicular line were closed to operation until further notice by the decision of the Governorship. Meanwhile, police intervened in a crowd attempting to hold a commemoration at Kazancı Yokuşu, and some individuals were detained.
Metro Istanbul announced that the Taksim station and the F1 Taksim Kabataş Funicular line are closed until further notice.
In a statement on Metro Istanbul's social media account, it said, "In line with the decision taken by the Istanbul Governorate, until further notice today; the Taksim station of our M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line and our F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line have been closed to operation. Our vehicles will continue their services without stopping at Taksim station."
While passengers are being directed to different stops, the metro continues its services without stopping at Taksim Square station. Security measures have also been taken by police teams in Taksim Square.
POLICE INTERVENTION IN TAKSIM
Meanwhile; a group wishing to commemorate on May 1st in Kazancı Hill encountered police obstruction. There were detentions. Those placed in police vehicles chanted slogans such as "May 1st cannot be prevented in Taksim" and "The May 1st area is Taksim Square."
