Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Candan Yüceer announced that she has resigned from the CHP, of which she had been a member for 18 years. Yüceer said, 'The will of the organization, the elected, the members, and the nation cannot be ignored. Today, carrying my 20 years of labor, my struggle, my comrades, and the values that the Republican People's Party has carried from its foundation to the present day in my heart, I am embarking on a NEW path.'
Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Candan Yüceer announced that she resigned from the CHP, of which she had been a member for 18 years, and joined the New Party.
“I AM LEAVING MY FATHER'S HOME UNWILLINGLY AND OUT OF NECESSITY”
In her statement on her social media account, Yüceer said: “I am leaving my party, which I have been a member of for 18 years, with which I have struggled together, and to which I have contributed at many levels, my father's home, unwillingly and out of necessity. This is one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made in my life. However, the issue we face today is not the issue of one person or one group. The issue is the disregard of the elected will. The issue is the disregard of the will of our organization and party members who have worked for years. The issue is the ignoring of the clear demand that the nation expressed at the ballot box. Yet the greatest strength of a political party is its members, its organization, its delegates, and the will that emerges at the ballot box.
“THE WILL OF THE ORGANIZATION, THE ELECTED, THE MEMBERS, AND THE NATION CANNOT BE IGNORED”
This is exactly my objection. I will not remain silent about casting a shadow over the will of our organization, the preference of our members, and the legitimacy of the elected, with this invalid understanding. For me, politics is not loyalty to individuals, positions, or seats, but to principles, values, and the will of the nation. The will of the organization, the elected, the members, and the nation cannot be ignored.
“I AM SETTING OUT ON A NEW PATH”
Today, I am setting out on a NEW path, carrying in my heart my 20 years of effort, my struggle, my comrades, and the values that the Republican People's Party has carried from its foundation to the present day. This decision is not a resignation for me, but a decision to keep alive the values, the struggle, and the goals I believe in. By embracing the founding spirit of our party, we are setting out on a new path for the future of our republic. Following the path of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, in the light of our republic, by protecting democracy, law, freedom, and the will of the nation, with the strength we draw from the past and our belief in the future, we are walking together toward new and beautiful days.
“THIS IS NOT AN END, NOR IS IT A RESIGNATION AT ALL”
'Beautiful days do not come to us unless we walk toward beautiful days.' Therefore, today I choose to walk toward beautiful days. This is not an end, nor is it a resignation at all. It is a decision to keep the struggle alive and carry it to the future. As yesterday, today too, I will be on Atatürk's path, alongside democracy, and behind the will of the nation. May God be our helper, and may our path always be open.
