A new development has occurred 10 years later in the case of Aynur Kanbur, a member of Mezdeke who was killed by gunfire in Şişli in 2016. In the indictment prepared within the scope of the investigation, aggravated life imprisonment was requested for 4 suspects stated to be linked to the murder. The indictment also included statements given by suspect Bülent Gündüz on how he committed the murder.
The investigation into the murder of Mezdeke member Aynur Kanbur by gunfire in 2016 in Istanbul's Sisli district has been completed. In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, aggravated life imprisonment was sought for 4 suspects, including Bülent Gündüz, who was stated to be a relative of Kanbur, on charges of "premeditated murder."
INVESTIGATION COMPLETED IN 10 YEARS
In the indictment prepared within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Cold Case Crimes Investigation Bureau, evidence obtained regarding the killing of 49-year-old Aynur Kanbur by gunfire on March 24, 2016, on Nar Çiçeği Street, Fulya Neighborhood, was included.
SUSPECT'S METROBUS ROUTE ON SECURITY CAMERAS
In the indictment, it was stated that the suspect Bülent Gündüz boarded the Metrobus at the Avcılar Metrobus Station on the day of the incident and got off at Mecidiyeköy, as determined by security cameras.
It was noted that Gündüz boarded the Metrobus from Avcılar at 19:01, was occupied with his phone during the journey, and at 19:40 opened the back cover of his phone, likely to remove his SIM card. It was recorded that the suspect got off the vehicle at the Mecidiyeköy station at 19:47.
Examination of IBB BELBIM records also determined that Gündüz's card was used at the turnstiles of the Avcılar Metrobus Station on the day of the incident.
STRIKING MATCH IN THE FLEECE DETAIL
In the indictment, it was stated that a fleece seen in photos Gündüz shared on his Facebook and Instagram accounts in later years was the same as the blue-navy hooded fleece with a light green interior worn by the suspect detected on security cameras on the day of the incident.
It was also stated that the ear, face, and nose structure of the person in the photos was consistent with the description of the suspect identified on the day of the incident.
HE EXPLAINED HOW HE COMMITTED THE MURDER DURING THE RECONSTRUCTION
After Bülent Gündüz, stated to be a relative of Aynur Kanbur, admitted in his statement that he had committed the murder, a reconstruction of the crime scene was carried out on June 11.
It was reported that Gündüz also gave a statement during the reconstruction regarding why he had planned the murder. According to the indictment, Gündüz said he planned the murder because he thought Kanbur's work as a belly dancer was contrary to the family structure.
The suspect explained that before the incident, he came to the building where Kanbur lived to learn the address and apartment number, and on the day of the murder, he reached the street on foot from Mecidiyeköy.
HE MADE HER OPEN THE DOOR BY SAYING "COURIER"
Gündüz stated that as he approached the building, he saw Kanbur on the balcony, waited for a while, rang the bell, and introduced himself as a courier.
In the indictment, it was stated that Kanbur did not recognize Gündüz at first when he entered the building and headed towards her apartment, but then noticed him and started screaming.
HE FIRED 3-4 SHOTS AND THREW THE GUN INTO THE SEA
According to Gündüz's statement, he then drew his pistol and fired 3-4 shots at Kanbur from a distance of about two steps.
The suspect recounted that after the incident, he went to Beşiktaş Barbaros and then took a bus to his workplace in Hisarüstü. He said he threw the gun used in the murder into the sea from a small boat he boarded while crossing from Emirgan to Kanlıca 2-3 days later.
Gündüz also claimed that no one had instigated him to commit the murder.
SUSPECTS' HTS RECORDS WERE EXAMINED
The indictment also included examinations of the HTS records of Bülent Gündüz, Fazlı Kar, Serdar Kar, and Yüksel Kar.
It was recorded that Gündüz's phone was off the day after the murder, that he received two messages from Serdar Kar during this period, and that he had contact with Fazlı and Serdar Kar.
It was stated that Fazlı Kar had meetings with Gündüz, who was identified as the perpetrator, while Serdar Kar made his last call just before the incident. It was noted that Serdar Kar's line was off for a while after the incident and that two messages were sent to Gündüz the next day.
It was also stated that Yüksel Kar had departed for the USA 3 days before the incident, turned off his phone just before the murder, and engaged in heavy GPRS usage after the incident.
REQUEST FOR AGGRAVATED LIFE SENTENCE FOR FOUR SUSPECTS
The prosecutor's office demanded aggravated life imprisonment for Bülent Gündüz, Fazlı Kar, Serdar Kar, and Yüksel Kar on charges of "premeditated murder."
Additionally, a prison sentence of 2 to 4 years was sought for Gündüz for the crime of "unlicensed possession of a weapon."
The prepared indictment was sent to the Heavy Penal Court for evaluation. The court's review of the indictment is ongoing.
