Turkey is entering a heatwave that will intensify with the new week. While temperatures in Istanbul are expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, warnings have been issued that the temperature felt in the sun and on asphalt surfaces in the Mediterranean Region may exceed 50 degrees Celsius.

According to the latest assessments of the Turkish State Meteorological Service, air temperatures across the country will gradually rise above seasonal norms. While temperatures in the northeastern and eastern regions remain at seasonal levels, values in other areas are expected to be 2 to 5 degrees higher.

With the heatwave intensifying in the new week, thermometers in many cities will approach the year's highest values.

TEMPERATURE IN ISTANBUL TO REACH 35 DEGREES

In Istanbul, due to northerly winds, the air temperature will be 30 degrees today and 31 degrees on Monday. In the megacity, the temperature is expected to rise to 35 degrees on Tuesday.

While sunny weather continues across the Marmara Region, temperatures are forecasted to be 37 degrees in Edirne, 35 in Balıkesir, and 32 in Sakarya.

50-DEGREE WARNING UNDER THE SUN IN THE MEDITERRANEAN

The most striking scenario will occur in the Mediterranean Region. While the temperature in the shade is expected to range between 36 and 39 degrees, it is reported that the temperature felt under the sun and on asphalt surfaces will exceed 50 degrees.

The heatwave is also affecting the Aegean Region. Temperatures will reach 37 degrees in Manisa and Muğla, and 38 degrees in Denizli and Aydın. In Bodrum, due to humidity reaching 70 percent, the 35-degree air will feel much more oppressive.

TEMPERATURES TO RISE RAPIDLY IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN REGIONS

In the Central Anatolia Region, air temperatures currently around 30-32 degrees are expected to rise to 36-37 degrees on Wednesday.

In the Black Sea Region, temperatures are forecasted to increase by 4-5 degrees from Tuesday onward. In Eastern Anatolia, 26 degrees are measured in Erzurum and 32 in Malatya, while in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, temperatures are expected to exceed 40 degrees on Wednesday.
