Before the Mevlit Kandili program at the Akşemsettin Mosque, a scuffle broke out between officials and a group that reacted to the hanging of an Atatürk poster at the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality's refreshment stand.
The important day of the Islamic world, Mevlit Kandili, was celebrated with enthusiasm in Bursa, as well as throughout Turkey. While mosques were filled to capacity all around the city, citizens prayed and made supplications.
MOSQUES WERE FILLED TO CAPACITY
Special programs were organized in many mosques, especially in the historic Ulu Mosque and Emirsultan Mosque. During the program held before the evening prayer at Ulu Mosque, the Mevlid-i Sherif written by Süleyman Çelebi was recited. On that night, which saw a high turnout from citizens, the candle was commemorated with prayers.
TENSION IN FRONT OF THE STAND
A program was also held at Akşemsettin Mosque due to Mevlit Kandili. Various refreshments were offered to citizens at the stand set up by the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality in front of the mosque. However, the poster of Atatürk hung in front of the stand sparked a reaction from a group. A brief scuffle occurred between those wanting to remove the poster and the officials. Those moments were captured on camera, while citizens nearby intervened to try to ease the tension.
