The access issue experienced in the Garanti BBVA mobile application on May 2 was resolved after several hours. Users were able to access the application starting from the morning of May 3. Following the issue, the bank announced that all of its branches would remain open until 5:00 PM today.
On May 2nd, there was a prolonged access issue with the Garanti BBVA application. Users trying to log in to the application encountered error messages.
ACCESS ISSUE RETURNED TO NORMAL
The prolonged access issue in the Garanti BBVA application returned to normal on the morning of May 3rd. In a statement from the bank, it was said, "We would like to inform you that access to our digital channels and Call Center has returned to normal and that we have reopened our channels for your service. You can continue to carry out your transactions through all our channels."
ALL GARANTI BRANCHES ARE OPEN TODAY
After the bank access issue, it was announced that all branches would be open until 17:00 today, stating, "In addition, we would like to inform you that all our branches will be open until 17:00 on Saturday, May 3rd. We sincerely express our regret for this process and thank you for your understanding and patience."
WHY DID GARANTI BANK EXPERIENCE AN ACCESS ISSUE?
The bank stated that the outage was due to a technical malfunction and that the issue did not pose any cyber attack or security risk. In the statement, it was noted, "The outage in our systems is due to a technical malfunction and does not pose any cyber attack or data security risk. All your assets and personal data with our bank continue to be protected with high security standards."
