GRAVE EXHUMATION WAS DONE LAST YEAR

The Taktaş family claimed that Yağmur was addicted to drugs by her boyfriend, was held captive and beaten, and was starved in the place where she was kept. Following these suspicions, the family applied through their lawyers for the exhumation of the body and for an autopsy to be conducted in Turkey. With the acceptance of the application, Taktaş's body was exhumed on May 5, 2024, and taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institution morgue. AUTOPSY REPORT REACHED TURKEY

On the other hand, in the autopsy report prepared at Columbia University in New York following the family's application, it was stated that various types of drugs were found in Taktaş's body. The autopsy video also showed signs of bruising related to beating and cigarette burns. Consequently, an arrest warrant was issued for A.C.F. by the 5th Peace Criminal Court at the request of the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. It was also noted that the autopsy report from the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution was awaited.

BRUISES AND CIGARETTE BURN MARKS

The family's lawyer, Fethi Öksüz, stated that the autopsy report received by the prosecutor reinforced the belief that Taktaş had been beaten and tortured, saying, "When we watched the autopsy video, we reached the conclusion that there were cuts on the top of Yağmur's head, bruises on her neck and legs, and evidence of cigarette burns. This supports our claims and even goes beyond them. The report indicates that various types of drugs and stimulants were found in Yağmur's body, suggesting that she was poisoned. It has become clear that Yağmur's death occurred due to the administration of drugs following her torture and starvation."

NO LEGAL ACTION TAKEN IN THE USA

Öksüz stated that no legal action has been taken against A.C.F. in the USA so far, saying, "If the individual enters Turkey, they will be arrested and handed over to the relevant judicial authorities. We will follow the process for the extradition of the individual from the US authorities or for their statement to be taken so that the trial can continue. We insist on the extradition decision. A precedent decision was made regarding this matter in the past. Due to the deep pain caused by Yağmur's death in the family, we want the individual to be tried in Turkey."
