Asım O., who is in the process of getting a divorce in Ümraniye, Istanbul, filed a complaint after his wife Reyhan O. secretly entered their home and took photos of the insides of the closets with their children. Reyhan O. was caught on security cameras, and legal action was initiated against her for "violating the inviolability of the home" and "mistreatment." The court applied the Law No. 6284 in favor of the man this time and issued a restraining order against the woman.
Asım O. (52), who lives in Ümraniye, Istanbul, and his wife Reyhan O. (48), who served as a branch manager at a bank, decided to end their 14-year marriage. While the divorce case is ongoing, the court granted temporary custody of the two children to the mother and assigned the family home to the father.
ENTERED THE HOUSE SECRETLY AND SEARCHED FOR EVIDENCE
However, despite this decision, Reyhan O. secretly entered the house last March while Asım O. was not at home. Allegedly, she asked her children to photograph the contents of the cabinets containing personal belongings in the house. It was claimed that her intention was to produce evidence for the divorce case. However, this plan was thwarted by the security cameras in the house.
"SHE USED MY CHILDREN LIKE A TOOL"
According to a report in Sabah, Asım O., who noticed the situation, rushed to the prosecutor's office. He filed a complaint against his wife for "violating the inviolability of the home" and "mistreatment" for intentionally using the children. Asım O. stated, "She used my children like a tool. She uses them to torment me. She is breaking the bond between me and my children through pressure and fear. In fact, they no longer want to talk to me; they won't even eat the food I make," he said.
PROTECTION ORDER IN FAVOR OF THE MAN
Following the incidents, Asım O. applied to the family court to obtain a protection order against his wife. The Anadolu Family Court applied the Law No. 6284 on the Prevention of Violence Against Women in favor of the man this time. According to the decision, Reyhan O. cannot make any threats, insults, humiliations, or attempts to communicate with her husband; she is also prohibited from approaching the residence, school, and workplace of her husband and children.
THERE ARE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION
The court also reminded that if Reyhan O. does not comply with the protection order, she could face a coercive imprisonment sentence of 3 to 10 days, and if she violates it again, she could face 15 to 30 days.
