While the belongings of the apartment residents became unusable, it was determined that water from the dirty water line had also filled the apartments due to a blockage in the sewage line on the street, and that the blood had mixed with the sewage following illegal animal slaughter.

In the Kazım Karabekir neighborhood of the Gaziosmanpaşa district in Istanbul, two apartments on the basement level of a five-story building were filled with bloody water coming from the garden's drainage and the toilets in the apartments. Upon the residents' notification, İSKİ teams arrived at the address.
BLOOD MIXED WITH SEWAGE DUE TO ILLEGAL SACRIFICE
During the investigation by the teams, it was determined that the dirty water from the sewage line had flooded the apartments due to a blockage in the street's sewage line. İSKİ teams opened the manhole cover at the entrance of the building and carried out the necessary procedures to clear the blockage. While the homeowners filed complaints, it was stated that the blood mixed with the sewage after an illegal sacrifice.
"BLOOD CAME OUT LIKE SEWAGE FROM THE TOILET"
Hasan Kurban, a resident who said he had just gotten married and that his wife was pregnant, stated, "I woke up in the morning, and when I looked at the toilet, everywhere was covered in blood. We were going to my mother's house, but we couldn't go. Everything is covered in blood, it's a disgrace. We've been trying to clean the blood since 9:00 AM. Blood came out like sewage from the toilet. İSKİ arrived 2-3 hours later. We threw away all our belongings," he said.

Burhan Karaman, who lives in the other apartment, said, "I currently have damages of at least around 150 thousand lira. My belongings are still covered in blood. I threw away the carpet, towels, bed, everything. I was scared when I saw it in the morning. I thought, 'Did they kill someone?' They had made a sacrifice," he said.
