The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) announced its highly anticipated interest rate decision. According to the decision, the policy rate, the one-week repo auction rate, was kept constant at 37 percent.

In the text of the Central Bank's interest rate decision, important messages were given regarding inflation, geopolitical risks, and the tight monetary policy stance.

DETERMINED NEW INTEREST RATES

The interest rates announced after the committee meeting were as follows:

  • Policy Rate (1-Week Repo): 37 percent
  • Overnight Lending Rate: 40 percent
  • Overnight Borrowing Rate: 35.5 percent

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MONETARY POLICY COMMITTEE TEXT

In the decision text published by the Monetary Policy Committee, the following assessments regarding inflation trends and market conditions were included:

Although a limited decline was observed in the main trend of inflation in June, leading indicators point to a temporary increase in July. With rising geopolitical uncertainties, energy prices have entered a new upward trend.

Data from the recent period indicate that the weak course in domestic demand has become more pronounced. The effects of geopolitical developments on economic activity and inflation are being closely monitored.

The tight monetary policy stance will be maintained until price stability is fully achieved. If a significant and persistent deterioration in the inflation outlook is detected, the monetary policy stance will be further tightened.

In case of unforeseen developments in credit and deposit markets, the monetary transmission mechanism will be supported with additional steps, and liquidity conditions will be managed effectively.

The Committee takes all these steps to achieve monetary and financial conditions that will reach the medium-term target of 5 percent inflation. It was emphasized that decisions will continue to be made within a predictable, data-driven, and transparent framework.
