Akhisarspor, which competed in the Süper Lig for 7 seasons and won the Ziraat Turkey Cup and Super Cup in 2018, has regressed to the amateur league due to financial difficulties and transfer bans. The club will compete in the Super Amateur League under the umbrella of Akhisar 1970 Sports Club in the new season.
As Turkey's first Anatolian district team, competing in the Super League for 7 seasons, making history by defeating giants like Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray in the finals to win the Ziraat Turkey Cup and TFF Super Cup in 2018, and representing our country in the UEFA Europa League group stages, Akhisarspor returns to amateur leagues under a different club's umbrella. After being relegated from the Super League in the 2018-2019 season where they also participated in the Europa League, unable to overcome financial difficulties and due to transfer bans preventing squad reinforcement, Akhisarspor regressed to amateur level within 5 years and could not participate in senior team leagues for the last two seasons. Following their relegation from the 3rd League in 2024, after failing to field a team in the Regional Amateur League the previous season and trying to compete with youth players, Akigo withdrew from the league in November 2024.
THEY ARE RETURNING
Akhisarspor, which did not participate in the Manisa Super Amateur League last season, has been announced to be taken over by Akhisar 1970 Sports Club for the new season. Akhisarspor President Özay Alkan stated, "We will implement a pilot team application until our transfer ban is lifted. Until Akhisarspor returns to the leagues in Akhisar, Akhisar 1970 Sports Club has also been incorporated into our structure. I wish success to our team that will compete in the super amateur league." Last season, Akhisar 45 FSK represented the district in the Regional Amateur League and played their matches at Spor Toto Akhisar Stadium. During Akhisarspor's Super League period, names like Okan Buruk, who won 4 consecutive championships with Galatasaray, and Brazilian world star Roberto Carlos served as coaches for the team.
