A person running an ice cream shop in Erenköy, Istanbul, claimed that he had agreed with Vedat Milor for promotion for 9,000 euros, paid the money in cash, but the filmed content was not published. Milor, who categorically denied the allegations, described the news and posts in question as "slander" and announced that he had initiated legal proceedings through his lawyer.
A claim of a 9,000 euro (500,000 TL) advertising deal, made by an ice cream shop owner in Istanbul's Erenkoy district about Turkey's renowned food critic Vedat Milor, has stirred up a public debate. The owner's accusations that the content was not published despite paying in cash for the promotion were met with a swift response from Milor's side.
"I PAID 9,000 EUROS BUT DID NOT RECEIVE THE SERVICE"
Levent, the owner of an ice cream shop named "O..." operating in Erenkoy, claimed in a statement on the 'Sikayetvar' platform that he had an agreement with Vedat Milor for the promotion of his venue. The owner alleged that on July 10, 2026, they shook hands with Milor for 9,000 euros (approximately 500,000 TL), that he made the payment in cash, and that he has all the WhatsApp correspondence, photos, and in-store camera recordings related to the process.
"OUR ICE CREAM SEASON PASSED WITHOUT ADVERTISING; WE ARE VICTIMIZED"
The owner, asserting that according to the agreement, the filming and sharing should have been done within a week, stated that the filming date was constantly postponed and could only take place on July 24, 2026. Expressing that although the filming was completed, the content was never published and the release date was continuously pushed back, the individual continued his claims with these words:
"We saw that they took on other ice cream parlors and kept us waiting because they couldn't make consecutive posts. Since we run a seasonal business, our ice cream season passed without any advertising. We were left in a difficult situation both financially and morally. I demand compensation for the damages we suffered and the resolution of our grievance."
VEDAT MILOR TOOK THE CLAIMS TO COURT
Following these allegations, which spread rapidly on social media, an official statement came from Vedat Milor's side. The famous food critic, categorically denying the accusations directed at him, announced on his social media account that he had taken the matter to the judiciary. In his brief statement, Milor said, "Legal proceedings have been initiated by my lawyer against the news and posts that constitute slander, including those using my name."
