Experienced climber Igor Andreoni died in Brazil after falling 80 meters when his rope snapped during a climb; equipment failure is being considered as a possible cause.

A tragic accident occurred during a dangerous mountain climb in Brazil. Experienced climber Igor Andreoni Barbabella de Oliveira (40) lost his life after falling from an 80-meter cliff when his rope broke.

FELL BEFORE HIS GIRLFRIEND'S EYES

The incident took place in the Morro da Ponta Aguda region, on a challenging route known as "Lisbela and the Prisoner." Igor lost his balance and fell while climbing with his girlfriend Luiza. Luiza described the events, saying, "I heard him shouting 'catch, catch,' and then I saw him fall."

TEAMS STRUGGLED TO REACH

Emergency response teams arriving at the scene faced great difficulty in rescue efforts due to dense vegetation and rocky terrain. Igor's lifeless body was found at a hard-to-reach location, and the teams had to clear a path through the terrain to access the area.

SUSPICION OF EQUIPMENT FAILURE

Luiza stated that she did not feel any strain on the safety system during the fall, raising the possibility of equipment failure. It was reported that the couple climbed with a guide and had experienced minor issues on the route before. It was noted that a hold broke in the first section and a stone came loose during the climb, but they continued due to information in the guidebook stating that subsequent sections were solid. The fatal accident was reported to have occurred in the second section.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Police announced that no criminal elements were found in the incident, while Igor's body was taken to the Technical Police Directorate in Itaberaba for detailed examination.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGES ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Igor, who had been involved in mountaineering for about 10 years, left his family and friends in deep sorrow after his death. Posts on social media featured messages such as "He left while doing what he loved" and "You inspired us to live."
